I remember 1A, our first term together
Submitted by Pek on Tue, 04/06/2010 - 20:41Frosh week blurred into 1A as the university term started...
I remember that big poster of Hong Kong on your wall. I remember you always coming by our suite asking for my roommate - who was never in most of the time.
I remember you who asked me if I could speak Mandarin while I was putting food in the fridge. I remember how I really couldn't although I really wanted to.
I remember how you returned to our suite to clean the suite according to our cleaning schedule, although you really didn't have to do that since you were hardly there anyways, lol. I remember appreciating it anyways and the respect you gave our cleaning schedule.
I remember the first time I was not feeling well, I knocked on your door to ask you to help me out. I remember you did help me although my request must have seemed really strange to you. I remember you also made me ginger soup that was supposed to help but was too strong for me - as was evident when I quickly had to throw up.
I remember going home for lunch all the time because I preferred to make my own lunch. I remember the one time I actually joined you guys for lunch in South Campus Hall and the lasagna was good.
I remember our first UWP barbeque - free food! And how we were excited, although back then we didn't realize how many more BBQ's there were to come, lol.
I remember your friends crashing our suite and we had late-night pizza together. I remember the "Our don is hot" comment and how I couldn't answer but my red face already told you the answer. That night our don even came by to quiet us down because we were being very noisy late at night.
I remember that one time I actually did Chemistry homework with you girls downstairs. Why did we freak out over Chem homework? lol, I remember we were so worried about the picky format they wanted and all those ruler lines and signatures they insisted on.
I remember you who always sat beside me in Chemistry tutorial who was so quiet.
Do you remember...'cause I still do.

Then Final exams for the following few weeks. The following few weeks will be filled with trying to meet people, studying for finals, and remembering and reflecting on my University life.
I start off this series of "I remember..." posts with the beginning of University - Frosh Week!
Do you remember when we started back in September 2004...Actually, it was before then, on the UW forums for admitted students that was super cool where there was a collection of us girls who met online first. Talking to each other through MSN or email. Trying to match ourselves up as roommates. I remember being sad that you forgot your promise to be my roommate and picked someone else from BC instead. I remember the mess with the six of us ending up in three rooms and me alone upstairs in 607. What a mess it was in my mind when the roommate assignment came out 'cause I knew none of the two names that were my roommates. I was confused and didn't know what happened. I remember emailing my new roommates and trying to get to know them. We exchanged pictures.
I remember meeting my roommates for the first time and my one roommate who looked so much younger than her picture, lol. And how we walked to the book store together and your mother's remark on how I walked so fast. When we came back later, we found our other roommate. I remember our first don meeting, because it's probably the only time we three roommates went together. I remember the three of us chatting together that one night where we stayed up late.
I remember my neighbour who always greeted me with "Hey Neighbour!"
Avacado-topped Salad
Submitted by Pek on Sat, 03/06/2010 - 21:29I just made a salad that I was finally fully satisfied with! Ever since Teru made me salad with avacado that tasted so good, I've been trying to make a decent salad with avacado myself. Here it is below using cucumber, tomatoes, mango, and avacado. Normally I also use green lettuce (didn't have any left); on the other hand, the way I chop lettuce up usually adds a bitter taste to the salad.

Facebook is totally flunking the Keep it Simple Stupid (KISS) factor these days. I can't even upload pictures without a fancy plug-in. I guess I could always revert to the old facebook version, but meh, might do that later (once I figure out how, haha). I've been thinking of migrating a lot of my content off of facebook anyways, including my food collection.
